Lifestyle Services Category
Double victory for CACI at the annual New Zealand Franchise awards 2005.Receiving awards for the top franchise system and top franchisee in the Lifestyle Services Category, it was a double whammy for the brand in the Lifestyle category at the premier franchising event of the year.

2005 marks the 11th anniversary of the annual franchise awards and celebrates excellence in franchising, an industry worth well over $10 billion to New Zealand.

CACI is a beauty and appearance medicine franchise which was founded 12 years ago by husband and wife team, David and Jackie Smith. The company has now grown to a total of 24 locations around the country.Recognised as the leading nationwide brand in New Zealand’s beauty and appearance medicine industry, CACI offers a variety of facial and body treatments and has become synonymous with leading edge appearance medicine, which is both safe and reliable.

Treatments include non-surgical facelifts, light therapy for acne, laser hair removal, Botox, dermal fillers and vein treatments. Kerre Woodham hosted the black-tie awards ceremony held at Auckland’s Sky City Convention Centre where the 2005 winners were announced. Kerre commented, “I’m not at all surprised at the success of The CACI Clinic, they have extended the shelf-life of this old media tart by a number of years thanks to their non-invasive treatments, no wonder everyone is using them”.

Franchise Association New Zealand Chairman Mike Henderson said of the event, "The Westpac New Zealand Franchise Awards celebrates excellence in franchising, an industry worth well over $10 billion to New Zealand from 14,000 franchised outlets and employing around 70,000 people. We had a lot to be excited about this year. The Westpac New Zealand Franchise Awards 2005 entries were of an unparalleled calibre compared with previous years. The noticeable lift in the standard of entries provided us with a first rate selection of finalists which easily surpass the standard from previous years,” he said.

Entering the 2005 Franchise Awards for the first time, gave the CACI brand the opportunity to celebrate excellence in their franchise network; both as a franchisor and for their franchisees. Judge Brian Maude was impressed by the well qualified management team running the business.
“The market potential is phenomenal as they have established themselves as market leaders. Excellent systems are in place to measure performance at franchisor and franchisee levels and they have also displayed excellent use of innovative techniques to communicate with their client base,” he said.

The CACI Group was also praised for consistently looking for new and effective ways to assist their franchisees in increasing financial returns, in addition to their ongoing vision, which is linked to their strategic plan.  With New Zealanders now spending more money than ever on their appearance and seeing the benefits of appearance medicine on television makeover shows, the CACI group and their franchisees see the need for additional clinics to keep up with the demand.
"Healthcare is one of the leading industries, as well as one of the fastest-growing segments of our economy,” says David Smith, Managing Director of The CACI Group.
“Women's health is predicted to become one of the strongest segments in business”, he adds. “The CACI Group is perfectly positioned to take advantage of the rapidly-growing women's healthcare market.”

One of the unique features that sets the CACI brand apart from other franchises, is that it is an ideal franchise for women in a female dominated industry. Nick Stevens, senior franchise broker at Link Franchise, has introduced five new buyers into the CACI Group this year.“There are few franchises available that are specifically female oriented like CACI. In addition it is a growth sector and as the systems and operational procedures are excellent, it allows a new owner to concentrate on sales and service delivery”, says Stevens. With 24 clinics nationwide and more in the planning, the brand is gaining enormous awareness and equity, and brand recall is strong.
“The major banks are very familiar with and more than comfortable with the CACI brand and franchise systems. This means they are willing to back prospective buyers who have management ability and experience – substantially more so than if one was buying a free standing business”, he adds, "It seems that more women are getting into franchising as a means to achieve a variety of goals, from supplementing family income to heading a large business. Franchising has become so broad - based, almost every conceivable business can be franchised. That gives women all kinds of opportunities to pick the type of business and the industry sector they want to be in, whether it requires a great deal of capital and energy or it's on a more low-key, basis."

Rebecca Field, is Franchise Manager of the CACI Group - a group that actively encourages women to participate in business and in f
ranchising.  Many women joining franchises are finding more
possibilities, fewer challenges and more support than they would in the corporate world.  "Women in franchising have a lot of opportunities right now," Rebecca says.
